The Most Panoramic Treks within the Conero Park
Monte Conero is a 572-meter-high promontory that plunges steeply into the Adriatic Sea. The entire area is part of the Monte Conero Regional Park, a protected zone of exceptional environmental, scenic, and biodiversity interest.
Inside the Conero Park, there are 18 trails that cross its various environments, making it the ideal destination for trekking enthusiasts and nature walks, without giving up the relaxation offered by the coves and beautiful beaches of the area, such as Spiaggia Urbani, Spiaggia San Michele, or Spiaggia del Frate.
Two of these trails are particularly striking for the breathtaking views they offer, making them the most panoramic trails in the Conero Park.
Trail No. 302: Passo del Lupo

The Passo del Lupo is located within the Conero Park, and from its summit, it offers a spectacular view of Due Sorelle Beach, one of the most beautiful and famous beaches on the Conero Riviera, which can only be reached by sea.
To reach Passo del Lupo, start from the cemetery of Sirolo and take trail No. 302. The path immediately enters a lush forest, before opening up further on with stunning views of the southern coast, with the picturesque towns of Sirolo and Numana visible on the horizon. On clear days, the view extends all the way to the Sibillini mountain range and the majestic Gran Sasso.
The trail can be followed up to the viewpoint of Passo del Lupo, a panoramic spot that will surely take your breath away. Beyond this point, the trail is closed by a regulation for safety reasons, so it is not possible to continue.
If you wish to extend the hike, you will need to retrace your steps back to the intersection with trail No. 301. From here, you can climb to the top of Monte Conero, where you will find the Abbey of San Pietro al Conero, a former “Camaldolese monastery” and a gem of sacred art nestled in the surrounding greenery.
Trail No. 301: Conero Crossing

The second panoramic trail on Monte Conero is No. 301, one of the longest but most iconic routes within the park.
Coming from Sirolo, the trail starts from the Fonte d’Olio area, about 3 km from the Camping Village Internazionale in Sirolo. From here, you ascend through dense woods, and with brief detours, you can reach some important sites on the Conero, such as the Grotta del Mortarolo or the Rock Engravings (Incisioni rupestri), an archaeological site dating back to the Bronze Age with some unique engravings found nowhere else in the Marche region.
Upon reaching the Abbey of San Pietro al Conero, as mentioned before, continue on to Pian di Raggetti, where the panorama opens up over the southern Marche and, on clear days, even the Apennines, the Sibillini, the Gran Sasso, and occasionally the Majella!
From here, the trail continues almost level to Pian Grande, where you can enjoy a stunning view of the Bay of Portonovo.
At this point, you can either retrace your steps back to Sirolo or descend to the village of Poggio Sant’Antonio, where there is a tavern, and reconnect with the provincial road.
Note: this trail is a hiking route, with a total length of 8.3 km and an estimated duration of 4 hours, so it is recommended for those in good physical condition and with suitable trekking clothing and shoes. Along the route, there are picnic areas nestled in the forest, where you can relax in the shade, surrounded by nature.
Variant 301a: Northern Viewpoint and Pian Grande
This variant offers an alternative route suitable for families and is less demanding, lasting around 1 hour.
Drive up to the Monte Conero Summit Parking, and once you leave your car, proceed along a paved road and then take variant No. 301a, which leads to the Northern Viewpoint, a spectacular viewpoint over the sea.
From here, you can continue on to Pian Grande to admire the Bay of Portonovo from above.
