What to see in Sirolo among beaches, history, and nature

What to see in Sirolo among beaches, history, and nature

Nestled in the greenery of the Conero Park and perched on a cliff overlooking the Adriatic Sea, Sirolo is one of the most fascinating destinations in the Marche region. Here, history, breathtaking views and unspoilt nature come together to offer visitors an unforgettable experience.

In the heart of Sirolo: the charm of the ancient village

The heart of Sirolo is its medieval village, a maze of cobbled alleys, stone houses and panoramic views overlooking the coast. The centre developed around an ancient medieval castle, traces of which can still be seen today in the walls and bell tower.

The main landmark is Piazza Vittorio Veneto, a true natural terrace overlooking the Conero coast. . From here, the view stretches to the horizon and, on clear days, the panorama is one of the most beautiful in the entire region.

Continuing the tour of the historic centre, you will come across the Chiesa di San Nicolò di Bari, built in the 18th century in neoclassical style, which houses works of art and an ancient 16th-century crucifix, and the Gothic Arch, one of the ancient entrances to the town.

Sirolo also boasts an important cultural tradition, as evidenced by the Teatro Cortesi, a small 19th-century theater built in local white stone and entirely incorporated into the town's walls, which still hosts events and shows today, especially during the summer season.

Where the village meets the sea: the beaches of Sirolo

From the village, the view and the paths naturally descend towards the sea. Sirolo is famous for its beaches, nestled between the high white cliffs of Monte Conero and lapped by crystal clear waters. The closest to the center is Spiaggia Urbani, a cosy and charming bay, easily accessible on foot, ideal for those who want to alternate between the sea and walks in the village. Continuing along the coast, you will find Spiaggia di San Michele, which is larger, and Spiaggia dei Sassi Neri, characterised by dark boulders that contrast with the white rock and blue sea.

Among the most iconic beaches in the area, Spiaggia delle Due Sorelle stands out above all others as a symbol of the Conero Riviera. The bay takes its name from the two twin sea stacks that emerge from the sea and is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy. Accessible only by sea, it is a must-see destination for anyone staying in Sirolo.

Conero Park: trails and unspoilt nature

Sirolo is also one of the ideal access points to the trails of the Parco Regionale del Monte Conero, a protected natural area that stretches for thousands of hectares through woods, panoramic views and stretches of unspoilt coastline. Numerous hiking trails start from the centre of Sirolo, allowing you to explore the park on foot or by bicycle, crossing the typical Mediterranean scrub and reaching spectacular viewpoints. Among the most interesting destinations is the Badia di San Pietro al Conero, an ancient Romanesque church surrounded by nature, a symbol of the spirituality and history of the area.

Visiting Sirolo therefore means enjoying a complete experience: not only sea and relaxation, but also history, culture and nature. Whether it's a stroll through the village, a day at the beach or an excursion to the Conero Park, this small town overlooking the sea always manages to win over its visitors, offering unforgettable views and an authentic atmosphere.

If you love active holidays in direct contact with nature, Camping Village Internazionale di Sirolo is the only campsite by the sea in Sirolo. The entire structure is spread out over terraces that, with their ups and downs, will keep you moving while you enjoy unparalleled views of the sea and reach Spiaggia Urbani and Spiaggia San Michele via private access.
